Synopsis

"Sailor Moon" is a TV anime produced by Toei Animation based on Naoko Takeuchi's original manga, first broadcast in 1992. Its setting draws on the Azabu-juban area of Minato Ward, Tokyo. Usagi Tsukino, a clumsy, tearful middle-schooler, meets a talking cat named Luna and receives the power to transform into the lunar warrior Sailor Moon. She soon encounters companions who share her mission, and together they begin fighting to protect the Earth and those they love. Centered on the friendship, growth, and love of these girls, it is a landmark of the transforming-heroine genre.
