Synopsis

"Glasslip" is an original TV anime produced by P.A.WORKS, broadcast in 2014. It is set in Mikuni, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. Centered on Toko Fukami, a girl born into a family that runs a glass workshop, it depicts a group of high schoolers spending summer in a seaside town. Friendship, budding romance, and uncertainty about the future—the wavering emotions unique to adolescence—are woven with luminous visuals and delicate psychological detail. A poetic work that captures the shifting seasons and the events of a single summer in the lives of its young characters.

Why visit the real-life locations

Mikuni in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, is a pilgrimage town where Glasslip's seaside scenery remains intact. The rugged cliffs of Tojinbo and the sunset-lit Mikuni Sunset Beach are landscapes that symbolize the series. Follow Mikuni-Minato Station on the Echizen Railway, the red-railed Mikuni Shrine, and the atmospheric former Morita Bank to breathe in the air of Toko's town. With the quiet grounds of Ryutan-ji Temple, Oshima Island offshore, the Mikuni Port breakwater, and the Mikuni Onsen Yuapoot, you can leisurely tour a townscape where sea and history live on.
