Hanamichi Sakuragi, an entering Shohoku high school freshman holds a record for being rejected by 50 girls during middle school. His nearly 2 meters height and bright red hair causes most students to write him off as a delinquent. One day, a girl named Haruko Akagi approaches Hanamichi without any fear. When she asks Hanamichi: "do you like basketball?" Hanamichi falls head over heels for the girl of his dreams. Without missing a beat, Hanamichi tells her he loves basketball, and the two head to the gymnasium where Hanamichi learns about the slam dunk. He also learns of Rukawa, one of the country’s top basketball prospects, also a freshman at Shohoku. (Source: Funimation)

Kamakura Koko-mae Crossing

The railroad crossing where Sakuragi and Haruko stand side by side in the opening scene. It's the most famous spot among the pilgrimage sites.
Kamakura High School Station (Enoden Line)

This Enoden train station appears from the very first episode. It repeatedly appears in scenes such as when Hanamichi Sakuragi confesses his feelings to Haruko while walking, and as the station used by the students of Shohoku High School to commute to school. Along with the neighboring Kamakura High School level crossing, it is an iconic location in Slam Dunk.
Shichirigahama Beach

The Shonan coast appears repeatedly throughout the story. It's the setting for scenes like Sakuragi Hanamichi and Rukawa Kaede walking along the beach at sunset, and the scenes where the teammates talk after a game. A spectacular view of Enoshima and Mount Fuji unfolds from there.
Inamuragasaki

This cape, a scenic spot in Shonan, served as the model for the sunset and beach scenes in the film. It appears in the seaside scene where Sakuragi Hanamichi and Haruko talk. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Enoshima, Mount Fuji, and the Hakone mountain range.
Katase-Enoshima Station

The gateway to the setting of the story. The station building, modeled after Ryugu-jo (the Dragon Palace), is particularly striking.
Enoshima (Enoshima Shrine)

This island frequently appears in the background of the story as a symbol of Shonan. It is depicted in scenes such as when the Shohoku members look out from the beach after winning a match, and in scenes where Haruko and Hanamichi are taking a walk.
Kamakura Station

The gateway to Kamakura, where Kakushi Goto and Hime live. Many everyday scenes are depicted.
Zaimokuza Beach

This quiet beach, stretching from Yuigahama, served as the model for the scene where Hanamichi Sakuragi practices dribbling alone in the early morning. In the story, it is depicted as a training ground where he proves that "hard work is real."
Yanagikoji level crossing (Enoden)
📍 Fujisawa, Kanagawa
Along with the Kamakura High School level crossing, this is another famous level crossing on the Enoden line. It served as the model for the scene in the story where Hanamichi Sakuragi talks to Haruko while waiting for a train at the crossing. The unique atmosphere where houses and the sea intersect is depicted perfectly.

This high school is said to be one of the models for Shonan High School and Shoyo High School, rivals of Shohoku High School. It stands on a hill overlooking the sea and appears in the game venues and distant shots in the story. The contrast between the Enoden train and the sea is beautiful.
Kugenuma Beach

The setting of the final volume's last scene where Hanamichi and Rukawa reunite. The sandy beach with a view of Enoshima matches the manga panels.
Hiratsuka General Gymnasium
📍 神奈川県平塚市大原1-1 (Kanagawa, Japan)
The model for the prefectural tournament finals venue. An autograph by creator Takehiko Inoue is displayed in the entrance.
