Synopsis

"Digimon Adventure" is a TV anime produced by Toei Animation, broadcast in 1999. Eight children, the "DigiDestined," are swept into the Digital World, where each pairs with a partner Digital Monster (Digimon) to face threats endangering that world. Built around the children's growth, friendship, and courage, the story follows them through many trials as their bonds with their Digimon deepen and drive evolution. Odaiba in Tokyo, the home of protagonist Taichi Yagami and his friends, is portrayed as the symbolic setting where the adventure begins.

Why visit the real-life locations

Odaiba and the Tokyo waterfront subcenter, where the Digimon story begins, make an ideal pilgrimage area. From Odaiba's landmark Fuji Television headquarters, the Rainbow Bridge, and Odaiba Marine Park, the Tokyo Bay scenery seen in the series opens up before you. Starting at Odaiba-kaihinkoen Station on the Yurikamome line, you can enjoy the views from Shiokaze Park and the Telecom Center observation deck, then head onward to Ariake Tennis no Mori Park and Tokyo Big Sight to walk the everyday settings of the children. A boat trip from Hinode Pier rounds out the waterfront.
