Synopsis

"Howl's Moving Castle" is a feature animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli, released in 2004. Set in a fictional, European-flavored world where magic is woven into daily life, the story begins when Sophie, a young woman working in a hat shop, is transformed into a ninety-year-old woman by a curse from the Witch of the Waste. With nowhere to go, Sophie encounters the wizard Howl, who lives in a mysterious "moving castle" that walks on four legs, and takes up work there as a cleaning lady. As the shadow of war spreads, the hearts of Sophie, Howl, and the castle's companions draw closer, and their feelings for one another gradually begin to shift curses and fate.
