This shrine is said to be the origin of the name of Tanjiro Kamado. It is also famous for matchmaking.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
📍 Kyoto, Kyoto
The beautiful scenery of the bamboo grove is reminiscent of the Demon Slayer Corps' training grounds, making it a popular pilgrimage site.
Asakusa, Azumabashi
📍 Taito, Tokyo
In the first episode of the Yoshiwara arc, the streets of Asakusa appear as the meeting place when Uzui Tengen tells Tanjiro and the others about their "mission to infiltrate Yoshiwara." The scenery around Kaminarimon during the Taisho era is depicted in the story.
Nasu Sessho-seki (Killing Stone)
📍 Nasu, Tochigi
A famous site steeped in the legend of the nine-tailed fox. When the Killing Stone split in two in 2022, it went viral on social media for resembling the boulder Tanjiro sliced during his training in Episode 1. Though not a direct model for the series, it is popular among fans as a place to feel the world of the story.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove Path
📍 Kyoto, Kyoto
This is the real-life location that served as the model for the bamboo forest featured in the first episode, during Tanjiro's training under Sakonji Urokodaki. It perfectly matches the image of the bamboo forest scene at dawn where Tanjiro trained to cut rocks.
Site of the Yoshiwara Great Gate
📍 Taito, Tokyo
This is the real-life model for Yoshiwara, the main setting of the Yoshiwara Arc. It's the setting for the red-light district where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke went undercover in the Yoshiwara Arc, which begins in episode 34. Traces of the past remain at the site of the main gate.
Mount Takao
📍 Hachioji, Tokyo
This mountain is said to be the model for the episode in which Momo and Okarun encounter yokai. It is a sacred mountain where legends of tengu (mythical mountain spirits) remain.
Yatagarasu Shrine
📍 Uda, Nara
This shrine served as the model for the Yatagarasu, the guide for the Demon Slayer Corps. It is the origin of the black crow that delivered Tanjiro's first mission in the first episode. It is the root of the messenger crows that deliver orders to the Demon Slayer Corps members.
Inuyama Castle Town
📍 Inuyama, Aichi
A castle town where traditional Japanese architecture from the Taisho era remains. The scenery is referenced in the Taisho-era street scenes in episode 45, and also as the image of the post town where Tanjiro and his companions stop before their mission.
Kinugawa Onsen
📍 Nikko, Tochigi
As a hot spring resort whose name includes the character for "demon," it has become a pilgrimage site for fans of Demon Slayer. The eerie atmosphere of the mansion inhabited by demons that appears in episode 11, "The Drum House," is reminiscent of the rugged gorge of the Kinugawa River.
Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
📍 Kyoto, Kyoto
A fantastical shrine with a thousand torii gates. It strongly links to the world of the series, appearing in the scene on the way to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters in episode 19, and as the sacred area that Tanjiro passes through on his way to the Ubuyashiki mansion.
Shirakawa-go, a village with thatched-roof houses.
📍 Ono, Gifu
This is the most likely location to serve as the model for Tanjiro's hometown, a snow-covered mountain village, in the first episode. The Gassho-zukuri village in this heavy snowfall region embodies the original landscape of the charcoal-burning hut village where he lived with his family.
