Synopsis

A 2017 theatrical anime by **director Masaaki Yuasa** (Science SARU) adapting Tomihiko Morimi's same-titled 2006 novel (Kadokawa, Yamamoto Shugoro Prize winner). On one Kyoto night, a college **Senpai** chases the **black-haired girl** he secretly loves through bars, second-hand book fairs, a school festival, and a flu outbreak — bouncing across Kyoto in a single absurd, exuberant evening. The **Pontocho** Fake Electric Brandy bar, the **Shimogamo Outdoor Used Book Fair**, the Kyoto University student festival — Morimi's Kyoto explodes in Yuasa's signature animation.
