Pilgrimage Spots(10 spots)
Seiseki-Sakuragaoka Station
📍 Tama, Tokyo
The nearest station to the film's setting. The shopping street and hills around it appear in the film.
Konpira Shrine (Iroha Slope)
📍 Tama, Tokyo
The model for the slope where Shizuku rides her bicycle. A small shrine in a Tama City residential area.
Iroha Slope (a cobblestone slope)
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This location served as the model for the film's most iconic scene: Shizuku riding her bicycle down a cobblestone slope. This steep slope leading to Konpira Shrine is vividly depicted in scenes where Shizuku runs down carrying her belongings and where Seiji Amasawa rides alongside her on his bicycle. Visiting the actual location brings the film's scenery straight out into the world.
Konpira Mountain Observation Deck
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This is the observation deck on the hill where Seiji proposes to Shizuku in the film's final scene. In the early morning, you can see the Tama River and the cityscape at dawn, and it is the setting for Seiji's words, "I wanted to take you to that place." It is a sacred site where you can experience the moving climax of the film.
Earth Shop (around the model building)
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This area served as the model for the antique shop "Chikyuya" that Shizuku accidentally stumbles into. Located on the slopes of Mount Konpira, the old Western-style buildings and lush, green sloping streets perfectly capture the atmosphere of Chikyuya in the story. This is also where Shizuku first meets Seiji's grandfather, Mr. Nishi, while chasing after Moon.
Rotary Park
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This park is located near Shizuku's apartment building, "Yuhigaoka Housing Complex." It appears as the backdrop for scenes where Shizuku rides her bicycle under the moonlight and where she meets up with her friends. It's a circular park near the train station, and the actual scenery is reproduced very faithfully in the film.
Sekido Bridge (Tama River)
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This bridge served as the model for the scene where Shizuku and Seiji talk along the Tama River. The view of the river and sky from this bridge crossing the Tama River is depicted in the story, and it is the setting for a memorable scene where their relationship begins to change. Visiting at dusk brings the scene to life.
Tamagawa Riverbed
📍 Tama, Tokyo
A model for a riverbank where fireworks are set off. A fantastical setting where summer ghosts appear on summer nights.
Seiseki Sakuragaoka Shopping Street
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This is the model for the shopping street that Shizuku walks through on her way to school and shopping. The streetscape of this shopping street, which extends from the station, appears throughout the story, and is used as the background for scenes such as when Shizuku walks while returning books to the library or when she walks while talking with her friends.
Tama City Library (Old Building)
📍 Tama, Tokyo
This is the model for the library where Shizuku always borrows books and finds the name "Seiji Amasawa" on the library cards. It is the starting point of the story when she realizes, "The same person is borrowing them all!" The interior and exterior of the library in the story are said to have been drawn based on this building.
