YuruYuri

ゆるゆり

Year: 2011 Genre: 日常系 / 百合 Studio: ドゥームー

A yuri 4-koma series set in Nanamori Middle School, modeled on Takaoka, Toyama, following the laid-back daily lives of the "Amusement Club" girls who took over a nearly defunct tea ceremony club.

Synopsis

"YuruYuri" is a TV anime based on the manga by Namori, produced by Doga Kobo (Dogakobo) and broadcast in 2011. A group of middle school girls take over the old tea ceremony club room and rename themselves the "Amusement Club," spending laid-back afternoons with no particular goal in mind. Centered on the perpetually overlooked protagonist Akari Akaza, the show follows a colorful cast including Kyoko, Yui, and Chinatsu in a gentle, comedic slice-of-life. The scenery of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, serves as the model for its setting.

Why visit the real-life locations

Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture, the model setting for YuruYuri, lets fans trace the girls' everyday world. Starting from JR Takaoka Station, the gateway to the city, a walk through town reveals scenery tied to the series. Zuiryu-ji Temple on Mount Takaoka, a designated National Treasure, is a signature landmark with its solemn halls. Amaharashi Coast, chosen among Japan's finest shorelines, is a beloved spot offering breathtaking views of the Tateyama mountain range across the sea. Combined with the charmingly nostalgic JR Fushiki Station on the Himi Line, the route captures Takaoka's peaceful atmosphere.
