Synopsis
"GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka" is a TV anime produced by Studio Pierrot, based on the manga by Tohru Fujisawa and broadcast in 1999. Set in Tokyo, the story begins when Eikichi Onizuka, a young man with the unusual past of a former biker-gang member, takes a post as a teacher at a private junior high. Unconventional in both credentials and common sense, Onizuka confronts students burdened by bullying and truancy head-on, using methods far from any textbook. This school drama blends laughter and heart to portray an outrageous yet fiercely sincere teacher who lives by his own convictions.
